summer vacation

it's been a while. been doing various vacations. have the laundry and amex bill to prove it. had an awesome time though. definately worth it.

we went to the chapel hill area of north carolina. it's very pretty. lots of wide open spaces. lots of beltie cows (brown cows with white middles...they look like they're wearing belts, or they look like walking oreo cookies, hence the term "oreo cows"). also learned that all hampton inns look alike. no matter where you are.

Larry and I went to Cape May while Jeanette hung out at her Aunt Lindas.

Cape May was awesome. We stayed at the Periwinkle inn which is right across the street from the beach. Everyday we made margaritas and daquairis (sp?), packed our beachbags, grabbed our novels (Larry read the latest Harry Potter, I read a great beach read my sister lent me called "Sandcastles" ), went to the shoreline and soaked it in. Then we'd eat. That was it. Three days. Best vacation I ever had.

Jeanette hung out at her aunts house with her cousins and Mema. She loved being with Mema and her cousin Kevin (yes, she has a cousin Kevin. also has a cousin Tommy. no uncle Ernie though). They would go to Kevin's baseball practice and she would run after all the baseball players. She also danced on the pitchers mound.

Jeanette also performed her first escape act while on vacation. She was sleeping in her port a crib that was parked next to a bed. Allegedly she climbed up the side of the crib next to the bed, once on the bed she eased herself to the floor, walked out of the room, scaled down the stairs, walked to the front door and said hi to everyone on the porch.

Since being home she has attempted to climb out of her crib 2x and jump out once. A toddler bed is on its way to our house.

We have also been doing swim classes with Jeanette and her friend Orly. Both girls love the water but they want to dive in and swim on their own. Needless to say they're not quite up to that level yet. though Jeanette did let me hold her back and she kicked her feet as if swimming.

Jeanette also climbs very well. she is up to climbing the chain ladders at the park and all stairs and ladders. She likes slides but does not love them, she prefers scaling down that which she has climbed up.

Finally, we have a new washer and dryer. it's wonderful. laundry gets done so much faster. yahoo. it's a beautiful world.
